Our Wonderful Amigos!

At Amigos we are fortunate to be blessed with a highly skilled, unpaid, management team and a small army of dedicated volunteers who keep our running costs low, ensuring maximum funds can be ploughed straight into our projects in Uganda.

Steve Scoffield BA (Hons), FCA, DChA

Director of Finance

Chartered Accountant Steve is a part-time member of staff with a huge amount of experience in the charity sector, both in accounting and HR. He has worked as Finance Manager at The National Autistic Society and The Lee Abbey Fellowship, and was a Trustee and Treasurer at the North Devon Hospice. Steve takes care of everything from banking through to production and analysis of financial reports.

Val Bishop

Fundraising and Development

Val has worked within the education and charity sectors for the past 13 years in a variety of different roles in communications, project management and fundraising, including spending 6 years with an International Development charity in Bristol. She is currently manager of West Buckland School Foundation near Barnstaple as well as a Trustee of a few smaller charities in the South West. She has volunteered for Amigos since 2013, “The Amigos work and the ethos which underpins it is inspiring – I am proud to be able to contribute in any way I can.” 

Ben Hewitt

Campaigns, Strategy and Communications

Ben is Director of Campaigns and Communications of A World at School. Prior to this he was the Operations Director of the Global Campaign Team at Save the Children International. Ben has volunteered for Amigos since 2013, helping with strategy, planning and direction.

Sam Chandler

Agriculture

Sam provides direction and consultation for the agricultural aspects of Kira Farm Development Centre. Sam runs an organic farm with his wife Christine near Chulmleigh, North Devon, and their main enterprise is an organic free range poultry unit. Sam has been instrumental in setting up a number of poultry projects at Kira Farm and continues to provide agricultural direction.

Liz Slocombe

Data Input and Records Officer

Liz is a faithful volunteer at the Amigos office and has the very important job of inputting bank data and looking after our child sponsors and donor database. Liz is a retired Primary School teacher, and has spent her working life teaching children aged 4-11 years.

Miriam Mansfield CertHe.

Minutes Secretary

Miriam has spent time at Kira Farm Development Centre helping to teach the ‘Shine Girl’ personal development programme to female trainees. Miriam is passionate about seeing people reach their God-given potential and recently completed a CertHe in Biblical Studies and Ministry. Miriam’s ability to face paint is key to the success of Amigos’ fundraising events!
